Cambridge United Women host Chatham United this Weekend in the FAWNL South East Division 1.
The U’s kick off at 2pm this Sunday 1st January, on their home pitch at St Neots Town Football Club.
Cambridge are currently 7th in the table whilst the visitors sit in 4th. A win for the home side would see this gap in the table close to just two points.
The last time the two teams met, Cambridge were leading 2-0 and dominating the fixture before the match was brought to an abrupt halt after U’s defender, Brooke Cheal-Ferris, suffered a triple leg fracture.
Cambridge will be hoping to start the game in similar fashion this time around.
The Opposition
After our first fixture was abandoned due to an unfortunate injury to defender Brooke Cheal-Ferris, and the rescheduled fixture being postponed, the U's will be hoping to finally play out a game that saw the U's take an early 2-0 lead before being abandoned back in October.
Chatham United are currently in great form winning six of their last seven games.
Their most notable win came just last Sunday when they beat 3rd place London Bees 6-1.
Having beat Dulwich Hamlet and Beaconsfield Town 6-0 earlier this season, this is not their first high-scoring display, and Cambridge United will need to be wary of their attacking threat.

Managers Thoughts
Following last week's 3-0 win over AFC Sudbury, First Team Manager Sean Greygoose had the following to say:
Sean, a good start to 2026 as the U's come out 3-0 winners over Sudbury, what were your thoughts on the game?
I think it was more of a battling performance than a technical, tactical game. We spoke about it before the start of the game where, the pitch isn't conducive to lots of nice football and we know that they're a really tough side to play against. Their last result was a 0-0 with London Bees who are a really good side, we knew they'd be resilient but today was about making sure we as a group stood up to that and when we had our opportunities we took them.
Like you say, the pitch wasn't ideal. Was there a change in tactics and strategy because of that?
We still tried to play the way we want to, since our last game against Fulham we've work on how we want to get the ball from back to front and some different patterns and opportunities. Credit needs to go to the girls and Sam for the set pieces, we've scored off two of those and we've made a conscious effort over the last few weeks to work on those. So we're looking better in that sense, but in open play there was some moments where it could've gone a little bit more for us, the final product but we've come away with three points.
There was a real sense that everyone was battling for each other out there today, which given the amount of departures and arrivals in the squad, were you quite happy with that?
We said before the game that it's one of those where you're going to have to roll your sleeves up and it's one of those where it’s going to be a battle. We've had a few new arrivals, we’ve had some departures but the girls that have come in have stuck to their task and some have made their debuts today so that's positive. But then the girls that have been here since day one, they've also done the same thing, so a really positive attitude towards the game today.
Looking ahead, it's Chatham at home next weekend, is this the baseline that we've got to take into that game and going forward now?
Yeah, Chatham's that one that was obviously called off due to Brooke's injury and then postponed and they've had a really good FA Cup run, there a really good side in the league so it will be a tough one. But like we said there, the key message was about that's the minimum standards and that's the expectation and I don't think we can fault the girls for their desire today. So we'll take that into next week, we'll have a couple of good sessions during the week and hopefully another three points Sunday.
How to get there
If you’re heading to St Neots Town FC from Cambridge, it’s an easy trip of around 22 miles. By car, take the A428 west from Cambridge towards St Neots, follow signs for the town, then turn onto Barford Road and left into Kester Way where you’ll find The Premier Plus Stadium on your right – there’s free parking at the ground, though it fills quickly on busy matchdays. If you’re travelling by train, take a service from Cambridge to St Neots (usually via Hitchin or Stevenage) and either walk the mile and a half to the ground or grab an Uber for the short five-minute ride.
