George Munday has joined Brighton & Hove Albion for an undisclosed fee…

The 19-year-old striker has been with Cambridge United since the age of nine, progressing through the Academy before being awarded his first professional contract last summer following the completion of his scholarship.

Director of Football Mark Bonner said, “Our Academy can be judged by two outcomes; to produce players for our first team and trade players throughout the football pyramid.

“We have seen the impact a number of our club developed players have had on the first team in recent seasons and we continue to trade players within the Academy system. Both are markers of success as we strive towards being a sustainable club competing at the best level we are capable of.

“George has continued to develop well throughout last season and finished with an excellent loan at Hereford FC, which rightly drew attention this summer. Brighton & Hove Albion have matched our valuation for George and we are delighted for him to take this next step in his development.”

Everyone at the Club would like to thank George for his efforts during his time at Cambridge United and wish him every success in the next stage of his career.
