Cambridge United are delighted to announce another year of outstanding success for the Club’s academy education programme...
From the 2023–2025 cohort, four out of seven graduating scholars achieved the top BTEC Level 3 National Extended Diploma grade of DDD*, with all seven exceeding their predicted grades by up to three levels.
Each also completed the Sporting Excellence Professional (SEP) Level 3 apprenticeship with distinction following a demanding final assessment.
Looking ahead, the current second-year scholars are on course to achieve at least two grades higher than their original predictions, with preparations for their SEP assessments beginning in September.
Alongside academic results, scholars continue to benefit from a broad education and personal development programme, including the UEFA C Coaching Licence, Refereeing Qualification, Life Skills Programme, Pledge United workshops, and community initiatives such as the Seniors’ Afternoon Tea and hospital visits.
Academy Education Lead Harsh Joshi said, “I am delighted with the excellent BTEC and SEP results for our 2023–2025 scholars’ cohort.
“It’s very rewarding to see our current second-years on track to surpass their projected grades and currently working at least two grades higher than their entry predictions.
“Our goal is to create an educational environment where scholars come in, work hard, and enjoy their learning journey. With smaller class sizes, we are able to tailor our teaching to meet individual needs, ensuring every scholar is stretched and challenged to reach their full potential.
“We believe learning should extend beyond traditional education; therefore, we offer a variety of programmes designed to develop well-rounded individuals equipped with essential life skills. Our commitment is to nurture not just academic success but also personal growth, preparing our scholars for a future of achievement and fulfilment.”
First-year tutor Kim added, “Well done to all the scholars – their hard work has set the tone for what we hope will be another excellent year ahead going into their second-year of their scholarship. I could not be prouder of their progress both as students and as young men."
Second-year tutor Amy said, “It has been a real privilege to teach this group in their second-year of BTEC. They consistently held themselves to high standards, showing the same commitment and drive in their studies as they did on the football pitch.
“I would also like to thank the members of public within Cambridge, whose support in providing data for the boys’ research projects played a vital role in helping them all achieve the highest grades in their reports."
A big congratulations also go to all first year scholars who received their GCSE results on Thursday morning.
These results highlight Cambridge United’s ongoing commitment to developing well-rounded young people, combining footballing talent with strong academic achievement and personal growth.
