Donation received for life-saving equipment
Cambridge United Football Club and CRC Football Club have been equipped with a life-saving new defibrillator with help of the Football Association and British Heart Foundation.
More than 900 defibrillators had been made available to clubs at Steps 1 to 6 of the National League System and clubs in the Women’s Super League to help save the lives of cardiac arrest casualties.
The U’s and CRC now have a defibrillator each, giving players, staff and fans access to the equipment needed to save lives in the community.
Two thirds of the cost of each defibrillator was provided to the clubs by The FA and BHF. The rest of the cost for the equipment was kindly donated to The U’s and CRC by our friends Paul and Fiona from The Brook Pub on Mill Road. Paul and Fiona hosted a Charity Evening at the end of last season, helping raise money for Cardiac Risk in the Young (CRY) and for the Cambridge United and CRC’s defibrillators.
Last week, Physiotherapist Greg Reid and members of the U’s first-team squad went along to the Brook to say thank you for helping Cambridge United and CRC be able to purchase this life-saving equipment.
From all the players and staff at Cambridge United, we would like to say a massive thank you to Paul and Fiona for all their hard work and effort in raising the money.
