Cambridge United Women are entering a defining phase. With new investment from ownership and a move to Cambridge University’s Grange Road Stadium next season, which is the first time in the club’s history that the women’s team will play all their home games in Cambridge, we have a unique opportunity to build something distinctive and sustainable in the women’s game...
To support higher standards, faster delivery, and professionalisation on and off the pitch, we are restructuring our board and recruiting two new members with expertise that will strengthen governance and help shape the club’s next stage of growth.
These are hands-on governance roles for people who want to make a meaningful impact on women’s sport in Cambridge at a pivotal moment. The Women’s board meets every other month, with sub-boards meeting monthly to focus on operations and football technical matters.

Time commitment and expectations: In addition to board and sub-board meetings, board members are expected to attend home fixtures on a regular basis, approximately once a month (around every other home game), to remain connected to the matchday environment, players, staff, and supporters.
These are non-executive, unpaid roles
Role 1: Board Member – Football (Technical)
Purpose of the role: To strengthen the footballing side of Cambridge United Women by supporting the next phase of professional development, helping refine structures that enhance player development, recruitment, retention, and performance progression.
What we’re looking for: We are seeking someone with experience in professional women’s football, ideally at WSL, WSL2 or Tier 3 level, or in a closely related elite performance environment.
This could include experience as:
- A player, coach or technical lead
- Head of recruitment or performance
- Football operations or pathway leadership
- Senior football leadership within a professional club structure
Key contributions:
- Advise on player recruitment, retention, and progression strategies aligned to the clubs’ ambitions
- Support the club in growing and enhancing professional football structures
- Help shape an environment where staff and players can thrive and develop further
- Bring insight from elite or semi-elite women’s football into board decision-making

Role 2: Board Member – Operations
Purpose of the role: To support the next phase of off-pitch growth at Cambridge United Women, maximising the opportunity created by our move to Grange Road and the increased visibility and momentum of the club.
What we’re looking for: Someone with experience in growing women’s sport, football or otherwise. Experience may come from sport, entertainment, events, or consumer-facing organisations.
Key contributions:
- Help evolve a distinctive and compelling matchday experience at Grange Road
- Support continued growth in attendance, fan engagement, and supporter identity
- Contribute to marketing, brand, and storytelling, aligned with the broader club’s marketing strategy
- Advise on commercial opportunities, partnerships, and revenue generation
- Bring a fresh perspective on how women’s football can continue to grow sustainably in Cambridge
