Cambridge United are seeking to appoint a Lead U9–U16s Sports Therapist to play a central role in overseeing and delivering medical provision across the Foundation Phase and Youth Development Phase of the club's academy...
Working as a key member of the Academy Medical & Performance Department, the post-holder will manage all aspects of injury prevention, assessment, treatment, rehabilitation and return-to-play protocols for U9–U16 players, while supervising part-time therapists, interns and contributing to holistic player health and wellbeing.
This varied role requires a confident, organised and collaborative clinician with excellent communication skills and a proactive approach to player care, safeguarding, and multidisciplinary working.
The role is based at the Training Ground, the Cledara Abbey Stadium & other academy venues, and includes full-time hours across evenings and weekends.
Key Responsibilities include:
- Leading and managing medical provision for U9–U16 players, including injury prevention, assessment, treatment and rehabilitation.
- Supervising and supporting part-time therapists and interns across training and matchday environments.
- Providing weekly updates to the Academy MDT on player availability and rehabilitation progress.
- Conducting injury trend analysis and supporting injury prevention strategy development.
- Liaising with Lead Academy Physiotherapist to optimise return-to-play protocols and clinical processes.
- Delivering pitch-side emergency care and ensuring clinical compliance with certification standards.
- Maintaining accurate clinical records and contributing to departmental CPD and quality standards.
- Building strong interdisciplinary relationships with performance, coaching, education and operations staff.
