U's Women Matchday: Norwich (H)

Cambridge United Women host Norwich City Women this Sunday, hoping to claim valuable points against the league’s second-placed side.

The U’s kick off at 2 pm this Sunday, 30th November, in FAWNL South East Division 1 action.

After a narrow 2-0 FA Cup defeat to West Brom last Sunday, which saw the U’s exit the competition, the team now face hard opposition in Norwich, who currently sit just one point off top spot.

In the team’s previous meeting, the U’s lost just 1-0 in the last group stage game of the League Cup.

The Opposition

Norwich City have had an impressive start to their league campaign, winning eight of their nine matches and suffering only a single defeat, a 4-2 loss to league leaders Fulham back in August.

Last weekend, Norwich, like Cambridge, bowed out of the FA cup with a 4-0 loss to Burnley, a side competing in the division above.

Norwich will be hoping they can secure all three points and remain in touching distance of first place.

Managers Thoughts

“The performance last weekend was strong, and it should fill the girls with lots of confidence going into this week’s game. We know Norwich is going to be a good side. They’re going to be good at passing the ball around, keeping possession and creating chances. They’re second in the league, but I think we’re able to go and get a result.” Sean Greygoose said.

How to get there

If you’re heading to St Neots Town FC from Cambridge, it’s an easy trip of around 22 miles. By car, take the A428 west from Cambridge towards St Neots, follow signs for the town, then turn onto Barford Road and left into Kester Way where you’ll find The Premier Plus Stadium on your right – there’s free parking at the ground, though it fills quickly on busy matchdays. If you’re travelling by train, take a service from Cambridge to St Neots (usually via Hitchin or Stevenage) and either walk the mile and a half to the ground or grab an Uber for the short five-minute ride.
