Luton Town Ladies 0 - 3 Cambridge United Women

Women’s FA Cup | Sunday 25 October 2026

Cambridge United Women made it back-to-back wins with a convincing 3–0 victory over Luton Town to secure their place in the next round of the Adobe Women’s FA Cup.

Following their 1–0 win over Dartford, manager Ethan Scott named an unchanged starting XI as the U’s looked to build on last week's performance.

The opening 45 minutes were evenly contested, with both sides battling for possession and creating opportunities to take the lead. One of the best chances of the half came in the 24th minute, Ella Gambell delivered a dangerous cross that needed only a finishing touch to put Cambridge ahead, evading everyone in the box.

Despite the promising start, neither side could find a breakthrough. Both teams remained defensively solid, ensuring the scores were level at half-time.

The U’s emerged from the break with renewed intensity and immediately began to threaten the Luton goal.

Cambridge came close to breaking the deadlock in the 50th minute when Jade Bell raced through on one-on-one with Upon, after drawing the goalkeeper out, the ball fell to Ella Gambell, but her effort sailed just over the crossbar.

However, a few minutes later, Lauren Tomlinson was played through on goal and brought down inside the penalty area, earning Cambridge a valuable opportunity to take the lead from the spot.

Hope Strauss, who had scored the winner against Dartford, stepped up and calmly converted the penalty to reward the U’s for their strong start to the second half.

With Cambridge now in control, Ethan Scott introduced new signing Kaci Bonwick in the 60th minute to add a different dimension to the attack.

The substitution soon paid dividends. Following a well-worked team move, the ball broke loose outside the area, allowing Tally Miles to fire a powerful effort into the top-left corner and double Cambridge’s advantage in the 63rd minute.

The U’s were not finished there. Continuing to apply pressure, Cambridge added a third in the 76th minute when Mollie Coupar found the net, recording her sixth goal in all competitions and putting the result beyond doubt.

Isabel Beeson was introduced late on to replace Cheyanna Norman, who had taken a blow to the face. Cambridge remained organised defensively throughout the closing stages, protecting their clean sheet and seeing out a convincing victory.

The final whistle confirmed a 3–0 win for the U’s, securing their progression to the next round of the Women’s FA Cup.

Cambridge United Women will travel to Stevenage on October 29th as they look to make it three consecutive wins and secure back-to-back victories in the league.
