Cambridge United are excited to announce that a new Girls U16s JPL (Junior Premier League) team will be launched ahead of the 2025/26 season, as part of the Club's ongoing commitment and passion to developing female football talent…
This new addition will serve as the fifth step in our female player pathway, offering a structured and competitive environment for young females aged 14-16 to continue developing their holistic growth and footballing capabilities.
The U16s JPL team will provide a transition and progression step from our Girls ETC (Emerging Talant Centre), and set the foundation for players to move into our U18s JPL with the ultimate goal to achieve a place within our Women's First Team.

- Women’s First Team – Ages 16+
- U18s JPL – Ages 16-18
- Female Elite Scholarship Programme – Ages 16+
- U16s JPL – Ages 14-16
- Emerging Talent Centre (ETC) – Ages 8-14
- Girls Elite Centres (GEC) – Ages 8-16
- Girls Development Centres (GDC) – Ages 8-16
- U8s Girls Centre – Ages 6-8
Charlotte Crisp, Cambridge United Girls Programme Manager said, “I am really excited about the introduction of the U16s Girls JPL set-up next season.
“It has been something which we have been planning on creating and implementing within our already established female pathway, so it is great that we are in a position to provide this opportunity as of next season.
“The addition of this squad will play an important role and step within our pathway, strengthening our offering and commitment to providing a clear and progressive path for talented female players.
“By offering an environment which will have a balance of developmental and competitive aspects, we aim to ensure that players within our set up are better equipped to succeed at the highest levels of the game."
Places within our U16s JPL squad will be limited and competition is expected to be competitive. With this in mind, players who are interested in being a part of our new U16s JPL squad next season will need to attend at least one of the following trial sessions:
- Sunday 18 May - 10am-12pm - Cambourne Village College
- Sunday 25 May - 2pm-4pm - Cambourne Village College
