Cambridge United are pleased to confirm that Shane McLoughlin has signed a new one-year deal…
The 29-year-old midfielder’s previous deal concluded at the end of the promotion-winning season, but he has now put pen to paper on fresh terms to extend his stay.
McLoughlin said, “It was something that was left open at the end of last season as something we could revisit, and thankfully it’s gone that way.
“I loved last year – it is proper close between the staff and the players and I wanted to stay and be a part of it.”
Neil Harris added, “I’m delighted that Shane McLoughlin has extended his stay at the Football Club for another season. Last year, Shane came up with so many strong performances in hugely important games for us.
“He was the glue that held our units together from back to front; he has the ability to take the ball in tight areas, carry it up the pitch, and press with an immense amount of tactical intelligence and intensity.
“He played a massive part in us gaining so many points last season. He is a crucially important, well-liked member of the dressing room, and I really look forward to working with his versatility again in League One.”
