The Cambridge United Women's board has made the decision to part company with CUWFC Head Coach Sean Greygoose with immediate effect…
Gisela Otten, Chair of the Women’s Board said, “This has not been an easy decision but we believe it is the right one for the club. Unfortunately, results since the turn of the year have not been what any of us would have wanted and, with safety secured, we feel now is the time to make a change and to start planning for next season.
“Sean will always be a very important part of the club's history. He came through our pathway, managing both the U18s and the first team during his time with us and put everything into both roles. He is a great person and leaves with all our respect and gratitude for his hard work and commitment. He will always be welcome at Cambridge United.
“This weekend, a record crowd of more than 1500 fans watched the game at the Cledara Abbey Stadium. That tells us all we need to know about the appetite for women's football in this city, and the opportunity that comes with it.
“Next season we move to Grange Road and it will be an exciting next chapter for CUWFC playing in the city for the first time. We are ambitious to do more on and off the pitch and work is already well underway planning for next season.”
An interim manager appointment will be confirmed shortly. Three league games and a County Cup final remain. We look forward to a strong finish.
