Remembrance tribute and Poppy Legion appeal to be held at Chester match

Remembrance fixture at Cambridge United

Cambridge United’s FA Cup clash with Chester at the Cledara Abbey Stadium (Saturday 1 November) will serve as Cambridge United’s annual Remembrance Fixture…

Supporters are encouraged to bring along their spare change for our bucket collectors as we raise funds in support of the Fulbourn and Teversham branch of the Royal British Legion.

Collectors – made up of volunteers, veterans and local cadets – will be stationed around the ground in the build-up to kick-off. If you can, please give generously to support the Poppy Appeal.

Ahead of the match, the Club will honour the sacrifices made by servicemen and women across the United Kingdom with a pre-match tribute. The ceremony will be supported by a Standard Bearer and current/former members of the armed forces.

Players, coaching staff and match officials will take to the pitch earlier than usual, with representatives from both Clubs laying a poppy wreath on the centre circle.

Supporters will then be invited to join in a minute’s silence, followed by the playing of the Last Post.

Fans are asked to arrive early to avoid disruption to the tribute and to ensure everyone can come together to pay their respects.
