Academy Scholars celebrated at annual Terry Baker Awards Evening

Cambridge United Academy Scholars

Last night, we were delighted to host our annual Terry Baker Academy Awards Evening, celebrating the hard work, commitment, and achievements of our young scholars…

The evening brought together scholars, staff, host families and special guests to recognise the outstanding dedication shown throughout the year, both on and off the pitch.

Among those in attendance was owner Mark Green and members of the Board of Directors, whose presence made the occasion even more special and demonstrated the continued support for our Academy and the development of young players.

This year’s award winners were:

  • Dan Herd – Most Improved - Since beginning his scholarship, Dan Herd has consistently impressed Academy staff with his attitude and determination to improve his game. A versatile player capable of operating in several positions, Dan works tirelessly and shows a strong commitment to his development every day.
  • Lohan McDougald – Moment of the Season - First-year scholar Lohan McDougald was handed his First Team debut against Luton Town in the EFL Trophy this season - a significant milestone in his young career. It serves as motivation for Lohan and a reminder to all Academy players of the opportunities available to those who fully commit to their development.
  • Lohan McDougald – Scholar of the Year - The Terry Baker Scholar of the Year, voted for by Academy staff, was awarded to Lohan McDougald. An attacking midfielder who is exciting to watch, Lohan possesses strong technical ability and excellent game intelligence. A thoroughly deserved accolade.

Following the presentation, the evening continued with a special fixture as our Under-16s faced West Ham United in the Terry Baker Memorial Match.

United’s youngsters produced an excellent performance and carried a narrow lead into the closing stages, but the visitors equalised late on to send the game to penalties, where West Ham ultimately prevailed.

The annual event provides an important opportunity to celebrate the success of our young people and recognise the dedication shown every day by players and staff across the Academy.

The evening would not be possible without the continued support of the Baker family, whose ongoing involvement ensures Terry’s legacy remains at the heart of the Academy.
