Vacancy: Assistant Groundsperson (PFA members only)

Cambridge United are looking to recruit an Assistant Groundsperson who is a member of the Professional Footballers’ Association (PFA)…

The role will be to assist in the maintenance, preparation, and presentation of high-quality playing surfaces and grounds for all football activities.

The role supports the delivery of professional-standard pitches for matches, training sessions, and club events while maintaining safe, clean, and well-kept surrounding areas.

Key Requirements:

  • Mowing, line marking, divoting, aeration, brushing, scarifying, and irrigation activities
  • Support in pitch renovation works (reseeding, top dressing, overseeding etc.)
  • Maintain surrounding grounds including pathways, spectator areas, car parks, and artificial surfaces
  • Ensure all outdoor areas remain clean, safe, and free from hazards
  • Operate groundskeeping equipment (mowers, tractors, line markers)
  • Perform basic maintenance, cleaning, and safety checks on all machinery
  • Prepare pitches for fixtures and training, marking, set-up, and presentation
  • Applying such chemicals as needed under the direction of the Grounds person
  • Provide in-game support and post-match repairs and clean-up
  • Support seasonal, high-demand periods such as pitch renovations and congested fixture schedules
  • Ensuring that all Health & Safety requirements are met at all times
  • Any other duties as required
