Cambridge United would like to acknowledge a shortfall in the promised increase in bus services to the Newmarket Road Park & Ride service following our fixture against Shrewsbury Town on Tuesday 27 January...
At the conclusion of the match, several buses should have been in operation to transport supporters from the Cledara Abbey Stadium to the Newmarket Road Park & Ride site. Unfortunately, this service did not operate as planned.
Stagecoach East have taken full responsibility for the issue.
Martin Marsh, Acting Operations Director for Stagecoach East said, “We would like to offer our sincere apologies to football fans attending Cambridge United’s mid-week fixture against Shrewsbury Town on Tuesday 27 January. Due to operational challenges and on-going effects of industrial action across the Cambridge network, we were unable to provide the extended evening Newmarket Road Park & Ride service that fans rely upon.
“We fully acknowledge we fell short on this occasion and understand your frustration. To help make amends for this, we will be offering later evening Newmarket Park & Ride services for a further two fixtures on Tuesday 17 February (against Colchester United) and Tuesday 24 March (against Grimsby Town), at no cost to Cambridge United Football Club.
“Stagecoach is committed to providing high-quality and reliable bus services and we are proud to serve the local football community.”
Cambridge United would like to thank supporters for their patience and understanding, and we will continue to work closely with Stagecoach East to ensure appropriate transport provision for future fixtures.
