Cambridge United are delighted to announce the signing of midfielder Owen Moxon…
The 28-year-old joins the club on a season-long loan from Stockport County, subject to EFL and FA approval.
After beginning his senior career at Queen of the South, he moved to his hometown club Carlisle United in 2022. His standout performances were instrumental in securing their promotion to League One and earned him a spot in the League Two Team of the Season.
He soon secured a move to Portsmouth, where he helped the team win promotion to the Championship, before signing for Stockport County in February 2025. He most recently spent the second half of last season on loan at Wigan Athletic.
The midfielder now arrives at the Cledara Abbey Stadium for the remainder of the campaign, becoming the club’s third new addition of the week.
Moxon said, “I am very happy to get it sorted. I originally heard about the interest quite early in the window, and it feels like a great fit.
"I had a great conversation with the gaffer and couldn’t have wanted anything more from the chat. Once the decision was made, everything was sorted quickly and I can’t wait to get started now.”
Neil Harris added, “I am delighted that Owen Moxon has decided to join our football club for the forthcoming season. Owen's a player with a wealth of experience at this level, a player that's very well respected in the EFL and has got real experience of playing in successful teams.
“Owen's capabilities cover the whole of the midfield area - his game understanding and his passing range will be a huge asset to us. We look forward to seeing Owen in the amber and black shirt and him enjoying a successful loan period for us.”
Owen will wear the number 8 shirt whilst with the U’s.
