Cambridge United are pleased to announce the signing of Louis Appéré for undisclosed terms…

The 26-year-old striker joins from Stevenage and signs with the U’s on a two-year deal.

Appéré made his first steps in professional football at Dundee United as a 17-year-old, where he broke into the first team to make 80 appearances for the club before leaving in 2022.

His next move was to Northampton Town, where he became a key contributor during his time at the club, including helping the team to League Two promotion in 2023.

After three seasons with the Cobblers, Appéré signed with Stevenage last summer, and he now joins Cambridge United with just days to go until the start of the 2025/26 season.

“I am delighted to be here,” Appéré said. “I needed a fresh start, and I am really happy that it’s all sorted. The manager made it clear that I was somebody he had been looking at it for a little while, and one of the best feelings for a player is to be wanted.

“I feel great. I have had a good pre-season, been training and played plenty of games, so I am good to go.”

Neil Harris added, “I am delighted to welcome Louis to the football club. We have had to stay patient in our pursuit for a forward, but I am really happy that we have been able to bring Louis in to add to our attack.

“He is a hard-working striker who will hold the ball up, bring others into play, run the channels and most importantly, score goals for us. We believe he still has room to grow as a player and I am excited to work with him over the next two seasons.”

Appéré will wear the number 9 shirt and joins United as the club's ninth signing of the summer transfer window.
