Knight signs until 2028

Ben Knight

Cambridge United are pleased to announce that Ben Knight has signed a new contract with the club, extending his stay at the Cledara Abbey Stadium until June 2028…

The 23-year-old attacker joined the U’s last summer on an initial one-year deal and has since made 29 appearances in all competitions, scoring six goals. Five of those strikes have come since the start of 2026, a run that has seen him emerge as the club’s leading goalscorer.

A former Manchester City academy graduate, Knight has now committed his future to Cambridge United by putting pen to paper on a new long-term deal.

Speaking about his new deal, Ben Knight said, “I am over the moon. I am really happy here and that’s the main thing for me to be playing my best football. I am thankful to the club and the gaffer for showing their trust in me.

“We are in a strong position and it’s a really exciting time. That’s why I want to be here.”

Neil Harris added, “I’m delighted that Ben Knight has agreed a new long-term contract with the football club. Over the last seven months, Ben has developed hugely, both on and off the pitch, and there’s still so much more to come from him.

“He has a clear development pathway in front of him that I believe will see him continue to grow as a footballer, and his form over the last six to eight weeks has certainly coincided with our rise up the league table.”

The deal is subject to EFL approval.
