We’re delighted to announce that Footnotes: The Writing of Football is back for the 2025/26 season…

Last season’s line-up featured conversations with the likes of Football Clichés’ Adam Hurrey and former Football Journalist of the Year Henry Winter. To kick off the new season on Tuesday 25 November, we’re delighted to welcome Kate Mason — sports broadcaster and Metro columnist — for what promises to be a fascinating discussion to start the series.

Kate has over a decade of experience presenting live sport, has been shortlisted for SJA Columnist of the Year, and won an SJA Award for her Inside the Qatar World Cup documentary with the Football Ramble.

She also made history as the first woman to present an England men’s Test series on UK television during the 2024 tour of India. Kate is currently writing a book about community in sport - and her own search for belonging within it.

She’ll be joining us to discuss football’s changing landscape in her talk: “The Old Guard vs The New Fan: Is It Possible to Tell Football in a New Way?”

All Footnotes events are free and open to everyone.

The event will be held at Lecture Theatre A (Arts School), Pembroke Street, Cambridge, CB2 3QH. Click here to book your place now.
