Footnotes: The Writing of Football returns to Cambridge this January with another evening of conversation and insight…

Previous events have featured conversations with the likes of Football Clichés’ Adam Hurrey, former Football Journalist of the Year Henry Winter, and sports broadcaster and columnist Kate Mason, who opened this season with a wide-ranging discussion on football’s changing landscape.

Our next Footnotes event takes place on Friday 30 January (6–7pm), when we’re excited to welcome Jonathan Wilson to Cambridge for a talk titled “The Writing of Football History.”

Jonathan Wilson is one of football’s leading writers and historians. A long-standing contributor to The Guardian and founder and editor of The Blizzard, he is best known for his seminal book Inverting the Pyramid: The History of Football Tactics, widely regarded as one of the most important works ever written on the game. He is also the author of several acclaimed books on football culture and history, and a multiple-time FSA Football Writer of the Year.

The event will be held in the Cockroft Lecture Theatre, 14 Pembroke Street, Cambridge, CB2 3QY.

As always, Footnotes events are free and open to everyone. Click here to book your place now.
