Hall of Fame welcomes 11 new inductees

Cambridge United Hall of Fame inductees

100 Years of Coconuts hosted its latest Hall of Fame ceremony on Thursday 20 November 2025 in the Regent Lounge at the Cledara Abbey Stadium, where more than 120 guests gathered to recognise eleven distinguished figures from the Club’s history...

This year’s inductees were:

  • Ian Ashbee – Midfield dynamo, key to United’s 1998–99 promotion and 2001–02 FL Trophy final.
  • Bryan Boggis – Reliable presence with 247 appearances between 1961 and 1966.
  • Phil Chapple – Central defender pivotal in back-to-back promotions in 1989–90 and 1990–91.
  • Jamie Murray – Left-back from 1976–1984, regarded as one of United’s greatest in his position.
  • Len Saward – Lifelong servant as player, volunteer, fundraiser, and club employee.
  • Dave Doggett – Chairman during 2013–14, overseeing promotion and FA Trophy success.
  • Harrison Dunk – Club stalwart with 464 appearances over 13 years; a model professional and leader.
  • Tom Youngs – Homegrown striker who scored 43 goals in 151 appearances between 1997 and 2003.
  • Mark Bonner – “Mr Cambridge United”; manager who led the Club to 2020–21 League Two promotion.
  • Richard Caborn – Sports Minister whose intervention helped save the Club from possible winding-up.
  • Nick Pomery – Director and CFU member instrumental in securing the Club’s future during administration.

Each was honoured for their outstanding contribution to Cambridge United, spanning on-field success, long-term service, and vital leadership at key moments in the Club’s history.

The event was hosted by broadcaster and lifelong supporter Mark Saggers, with organisation led by Richard Toombs, Chair of 100 Years of Coconuts. Full inductee citations will be available on the Coconuts website in due course.

The next Hall of Fame occasion will take place on 19 December, when the 2013–14 squad will be inducted during the home fixture against Accrington Stanley.

Several members of the FA Trophy and Conference Play-Off winning team will attend to receive the honour, joining their manager Richard Money, inducted in 2018.
