Cambridge United, in partnership with Cambridge Regional College, invites prospective players and their families to an Open Evening at the Cledara Abbey Stadium on Monday 1 December…
Parents and young people can gain a first-hand look at the club’s Elite Scholarship Programme, giving young footballers aged 16–19 a unique opportunity to combine full-time education with a high-performance football environment.
The evening will include a detailed presentation from programme leads and coaching staff, outlining how the scholarship blends a two-year Level 3 Extended Diploma in Sport Coaching and Development with a structured Football Development Scheme.
Scholars train 2–3 times per week and compete in the National Youth Football League, facing some of the country’s strongest academies, as well as taking part in national cup competitions.
Open Evening Schedule:
- Location: Cledara Abbey Stadium
- Date: Monday 1 December
- Female presentation: 6pm
- Male presentation: 7pm
Attendees will get an overview of our top-class training and match facilities, along with expert coaching from Cambridge United’s qualified staff, led by club legend Josh Coulson, who has made 300+ appearances for the first team over a 10-year period.
The partnership provides strong progression routes, including regular visits from US scholarship scouts and work-experience opportunities with the club.
Learners gain qualifications that support university study and careers in PE teaching, physiotherapy, sports science, coaching, and fitness. Training takes place at Queen’s and Robinson Sports Ground on Barton Road, with transport from CRC’s Cambridge Campus.
