Footnotes: The Writing of Football returns this February with another evening of conversation and insight...
Now a year since launching, previous events have featured the likes of Football Clichés’ Adam Hurrey, former Football Journalist of the Year Henry Winter, and sports broadcaster and columnist Kate Mason.
There are two upcoming talks over the next few weeks - first up, journalist and broadcaster Jonathan Wilson will explore the history of the game on Friday 30 January, before Footnotes turns its focus to women’s football on Wednesday 11 February, with leading writer and researcher Carrie Dunn in town.
Carrie holds a PhD in sports sociology, specialising in female football fans in England, and has published extensively on women’s football, fandom, and the game’s social history.
Her recent books include Woman Up: Pitches, Pay and Periods – The Progress and Potential of Women’s Football (Icon, 2023), shortlisted for the Vikki Orvice Award for Women’s Sports Writing at the 2024 Sports Book Awards, and Unsuitable for Females: The Rise of the Lionesses and Women’s Football in England (Birlinn, 2022), shortlisted for Football Book of the Year at the 2023 Sports Book Awards.
The event takes place on Wednesday 11 February at 6pm, in Lecture Theatre A (Arts School), Pembroke Street.
As always, Footnotes events are free and open to everyone. Click here to book your place now.
