The campaign shines a light on the work taking place at Cambridge United and across the league to develop the next generation of footballing talent.
The EFL is a powerhouse of youth development, producing top-tier footballers for club and country. Its dynamic games programme provides essential competitive experience from U9 to U21 level, supported by a holistic approach that equips young players with elite coaching, education, and wellbeing support.
Every club contributes to this success story, and Cambridge United is proud of the central role our Academy pathway continues to play in the First Team setup.
During the 2025/26 season, Cambridge United club-developed players logged 7,262 League Two minutes (16% of total team minutes) and 2,277 cup minutes (26% of total cup minutes), with at least two club-developed players named in the matchday squad for 85% of our fixtures.
The campaign has also seen major individual milestones. Lohan McDougald marked his First Team debut in the EFL Trophy fixture against Luton Town, while international recognition followed for Sam Okolie, who joined up with the Seychelles senior squad for World Cup qualifiers, and Jacob Newman, who earned a call-up to an England U15 training camp.
And in this current 2026/27 season, Dan Herd made his First Team debut, playing 30 minutes against Millwall in the Carabao Cup.
