The 17-year-old striker signs professional terms following an impressive period of development that has seen him excel for the Under 18s and gain valuable experience with the first team.
Since arriving at the club as an Under 15, Efobi has moved through the Academy ranks and now reaches another important milestone in his journey with the U’s, just days after making his senior debut in Tuesday’s Jersey Mike’s Trophy fixture against Gillingham.
“I am delighted. It’s a really proud moment for me and my family,” Efobi said.
“I’d like to thank everyone at the club for their support of me. I know that I have a lot of hard work ahead of me, but I am happy to take this step.
“Every young player dreams of making their debut and signing professionally, but now it's done and I’m focused on learning from the players and staff around me, and I’m determined to keep improving every day and repay the faith the club has shown in me.”
Head of Academy, Dom Knighton said, "Dan signing his first professional contract with the football club is a proud moment for him, his family and our Academy. Since joining the Academy as an U15 Dan's continued development has been brilliant to see.
“He is strong, powerful and is a very good finisher in front of goal. He has earned this opportunity through his attitude, mindset, and performances. It has also been pleasing to see his involvement with the first team at such a young age.
“The support of the manager and first team coaching staff has been important in giving Dan the opportunity as has the belief the owners and Bonz have shown in our young players and the Academy pathway.
“This contract is an important step, but Dan knows that the hard work starts now. Our job is to keep supporting and challenging him as he develops and works towards his aim of establishing himself in senior football."
