Cambridge United are pleased to announce the signing of Ben Purrington…
The 29-year-old left-back joins the Club on a one-year deal having departed Exeter City at the end of last season.
Purrington came through the Plymouth Argyle youth system and made 64 First Team appearances before signing for Rotherham United in 2017.
Whilst with the Millers, he joined AFC Wimbledon and Charlton Athletic on loan, and it was at the Valley where he would find a home, making the move permanent in 2019 and going on to make over 100 appearances for the Club.
Two years at Ross County followed, before he signed with his hometown team, Exeter last summer.
“I am really excited to get going” Ben said. “It has moved quite quickly over the last week or so.

"I have played against a lot of the manager's teams over the years and there has always been a little bit of interest from him. Hopefully I can repay that faith and have a good year."
Neil Harris added, “I am delighted to welcome Ben to the football club. He has been a standout performer at left-back in recent seasons in League One and the Scottish Premier League, and we think he will bring great defensive balance, a real desire to win and promotion-winning experience to our squad.”
Purrington arrives at United the day before the rest of the team join up for the first day of pre-season testing. He will wear squad number 3.
