Cambridge United are pleased to announce the signing of Gassan Ahadme on a one-year loan deal from Charlton Athletic…

The 25-year-old striker enjoyed a productive 2023/24 season on loan with the U’s, scoring 13 goals from 33 games.

Following his initial departure from the Club, Ahadme signed for the Addicks and spent last season on loan at Stevenage FC. He now joins back up with Neil Harris ahead of the players’ return to pre-season.

Ahadme said, “I am really happy to be back. I have good memories of the season I had here, but I am trying to hit new levels and I am expecting a lot of myself.

“I want to hit the ground running and show what I am capable of. I am looking forward to what’s to come.”

Neil Harris added, “I am hugely excited to work with Gassan Ahadme this season; I think it’s a vital signing for the football club. Gassan is the exact profile of a number nine that I like to work with, and we know he has the strengths and attributes to support our attacking unit.

"We have real versatility and reliability at the top end of the pitch now, which is crucial in what will be an important season where we are going to need to score vital goals at vital moments.

“Gassan is a wonderful professional. During my first spell in charge at the Club, I really enjoyed working with him both on and off the training pitch. I look forward to helping him develop his game further this season, and I can't wait to see him scoring goals in a Cambridge shirt again.”
