Cambridge United Academy have entered into a new partnership with local grassroots club Ely City, who currently provide football opportunities for around 450 boys and girls across their junior teams…
The partnership will focus on strengthening player pathways, supporting coach development and increasing engagement between the Academy and grassroots football within the local area.
Cambridge United Academy Talent ID Officer Jake Hammond said, “After some really positive conversations with Natasha and the committee at Ely City, it became clear very quickly that this partnership could be a great opportunity for everyone involved.
“Ely City have recently brought together several local junior clubs to form one unified club, and with such a large number of boys and girls involved, there is real scope for us to support each other.
“With Ely being a growing town so close to Cambridge, it made complete sense for us to work together and build a strong, sustainable relationship.”
Ely City Development Officer Natasha Lane, added, “Everyone at Ely City Football Club is incredibly excited about our new partnership with Cambridge United. As our local professional club, and with Ely firmly within their catchment area, this collaboration opens up fantastic opportunities for coach development, player engagement and long-term player development across the club.
“Working alongside Cambridge United will help raise standards, inspire our players and strengthen the pathway for both coaches and players as we continue to grow.”
