Corr appointed First Team Coach, Gill named St Neots Manager

14 May 2021

Cambridge United is pleased to announce that Barry Corr has been appointed to the First Team Coaching Staff…

Corr joined the Club’s staff in July 2019 when he was appointed Academy Development Coach and since January 2020, he combined this role with his position as St Neots Town Manager, as part of the collaboration and strategic link between the two Clubs.

Since the curtailment of St Neots’ season in February 2021, Corr has been working with the First Team coaching staff and today’s announcement confirms his permanent switch to First Team Coach.

Head Coach Mark Bonner said, “We are delighted that Barry’s position in the First Team has been made permanent and that he will continue to work with myself and Gary as we move into a new season.

"Barry’s input in the First Team environment at the training ground has been excellent and as we plan our coaching programme for next season, he will take on more responsibilities and continue to be a big influence and character with the team.

"This completes a strong set of coaches and is another positive, strong character who cares deeply for the Club on our talented backroom staff."

Coinciding with the news regarding Corr’s new role, Academy Head of Coaching Pete Gill will be taking over as St Neots Town Manager, whilst continuing to carry out his Academy coaching duties.

Head of Football Ben Strang said, "Barry’s time with St Neots was positive, yet frustrating. Under his guidance, St Neots were going from strength to strength before unfortunately suffering a second successive season curtailment. However, he made a big impression on a lot of people at the Club with his approach and manner.

"We are pleased that St Neots have offered Pete the role of Manager and we are confident that he will continue to further build the collaboration between the Clubs. Pete has excellent youth coaching experience, as well as exposure to Non-League coaching roles; so we are enthusiastic about his appointment."

The Club would like to congratulate and wish the best of luck to both Barry and Pete on their respective appointments.
