INTERVIEW: LEON LEGGE
Cambridge United stalwart Leon Legge looks ahead to this weekend’s encounter with League Two leaders Northampton Town.
The centre back admits it was a disappointing performance against Exeter City on Saturday afternoon at the Abbey Stadium, however with the U’s still positioned on the brink of the top seven, feels his team mates will dust themselves off quickly.
He said: “There are 11 games to go and 33 points to play for, and we’ll need as many of them as possible.
“We can’t do anything about what has happened in the past. Of course you reflect on the game over the weekend, but as soon as Monday morning comes, you’re tuned in for Saturday and the next match.
“The games elsewhere went for us and although we lost, we’re still only three points off the top seven. We’ll train hard during the week and the Manger and Joe [Dunne] will create a plan as to how we will line up against Northampton.”
Commenting on the clash with the Cobblers at the Sixfields Stadium this weekend, Legge added: “Northampton are the team to beat at the moment.
“We obviously got the better of them at the Abbey Stadium earlier this season, so we can be confident going there. Obviously we have to be aware that this is a team that are top of the League for a reason.
“We have to make it tough for them, just because they are at home doesn’t mean we let them take charge of the game. They are on a very good run at the moment but we’ll be travelling over there looking to spoil the party.”
