Cambridge United are seeking to appoint a Player Development Coach to support the Academy's strategy of developing high-potential young footballers...
The successful candidate will work closely with the Academy coaching team in an 'on the grass' role, delivering high-quality coaching sessions while providing off-pitch support to enhance player development.
Working alongside the Lead Youth Development Phase Coach, the role will focus primarily on the U15 and U16 age groups, while also supporting the U18 Lead Coach and assisting with the transition of players into the Professional Development Phase.
This is an exciting opportunity for an individual with a passion for coaching and long-term player development to play a key role in helping young players maximise their potential both on and off the pitch.
Key Responsibilities include:
- Lead the delivery of high-quality training sessions in line with the Academy coaching programme.
- Lead Academy teams across relevant age groups within the games programme.
- Contribute to the creation of Individual Development Plans (IDPs) and support the monitoring, review and feedback process.
- Utilise performance analysis to review coaching practice and player performance, ensuring video feedback is embedded within the player development process.
- Ensure all relevant information from coaching sessions and matches is recorded accurately and in a timely manner on the appropriate platforms.
- Collaborate with multi-disciplinary Academy staff to deliver a holistic player development programme.
- Attend and actively contribute to meetings relevant to the role.
- Support the Lead Youth Development Phase Coach in the coordination and delivery of the U15-U16 programme.
- Assist the U18 Lead Coach in the delivery of the Professional Development Phase programme as directed.
- Support the transition of players into the U15-U16 programme through ongoing observation and understanding of the U14 age group.
- Engage fully with staff development opportunities across the Academy and wider Club.
- Maintain qualifications and attend any required training relevant to the role.
- Maintain regular and proactive communication with line management.
- Undertake any other reasonable duties as required to support the Academy programme.
