Cambridge United have been promoted to Sky Bet League One…

This afternoon’s draw against Crewe Alexandra confirmed an immediate return to the third tier for the U’s, who finish the season in third place.

Neil Harris has led his side to the best defensive record in the entire EFL, conceding just 33 goals from 46 games. The U’s also boast the strongest home record in the division, picking up 51 points from 24 league matches at the Cledara Abbey.

United stayed in touch with the early promotion contenders during the opening months of the campaign, but from November onwards found their stride. A 14-match unbeaten run through the winter propelled the U’s into automatic promotion contention, including a six-game winning streak in January.

In recent weeks, United have faced a number of their direct rivals, picking up important victories over Salford City and Notts County - the two sides who were chasing the U’s for the final automatic spot this afternoon - while also remaining unbeaten against MK Dons, Swindon Town and Bromley.

Thank you to all our supporters for your incredible backing, both at the Cledara Abbey and on the road throughout the season. Our thanks also go to our sponsors and commercial partners for their continued support.
