Cambridge United are proud to support this year’s Chariots of Fire relay race, taking place on Sunday 20th September 2026, in aid of the British Heart Foundation (BHF)…
This year’s Official Race Starter is Maia Wiggett from St Neots. Born prematurely weighing just three pounds, Maia was diagnosed at a day old with atrioventricular septal defect (AVSD) - a congenital heart condition leaving her with two sizeable holes in her heart.
At just seven months old, Maia underwent a touch-and-go, seven-hour open-heart operation. Thanks to the incredible medical team and research funded by charities like the BHF, Maia was able to return home safely two weeks later.
How You Can Help
Chariots of Fire relies entirely on volunteers to keep the event running smoothly. Whether you can give a few hours or the whole morning, the organizers need hands on deck for roles including:
- Baggage Drop & Retrieval
- Medal Distribution
- Course Marshalling
- Refreshment Stations
- Cheering on the Runners
If you can lend a hand and support Maia and the British Heart Foundation, please reach out directly:
