Cambridge United are pleased to announce the loan signing of Elliott Nevitt…
The 29-year-old striker joins the U’s from Gillingham, joining on a deal until the end of the season.
Nevitt rose through the Liverpool non-league and Sunday league ranks, establishing himself as a prolific forward. His journey included a standout moment at Wembley Stadium in 2021, where he scored a hat-trick for Warrington Rylands 1906 in the FA Vase Final. Those performances caught the attention of EFL clubs, and he signed for Tranmere Rovers later that summer.
Two seasons with Tranmere followed before a move to Crewe Alexandra in January 2023. Nevitt enjoyed his most productive campaign in 2023/24, scoring 16 league goals as Crewe reached the League Two play-off final.
He signed for Gillingham ahead of the 2024/25 season under then manager Mark Bonner, and now joins up with his former boss and Neil Harris at the Cledara Abbey Stadium.
“I am really happy,” Nevitt said. “The club is on a good run and their ambitions are my ambitions. I want to be at the right end of the league, fighting for something.
“I know it’s going to be hard to get into the team when everyone is going well, but that’s what you want - you can tell it’s a good place to be.”
Neil Harris added, “I would like to welcome Elliott to the football club. He comes with great pedigree and experience at this level, and we feel he’s an excellent fit for the way we’ve been playing and how I see the team developing over the next three months.
“He adds real competition and energy to the front line, and I believe he’s a very good fit for us.”
Nevitt will wear the number 24 shirt and joins United as the club's first signing of the January transfer window.
