Cambridge United are pleased to announce the signing of Nathan Bishop…

The 25-year-old goalkeeper arrives from Sunderland on a loan deal until the end of the season.

Bishop came through the Southend United Academy, where he signed his first professional contract, and went on to make 39 appearances for the First Team as a teenager.

His potential saw Manchester United come calling, and he joined the Reds on a two-and-a-half year deal in January 2020. He spent the 2021/22 season on loan at Mansfield, where he kept goal for the Stags as their number one as they reached the League Two Play-Off final.

Following the end of his contract at Manchester United, he signed for Sunderland in August 2023, where he joined Wycombe on loan from during the summer of last year.

His time with the Chairboys has come to an early conclusion, as he now signs for the U’s until the end of the season.

“I am excited,” Bishop said. “Cambridge are a good side - you can see the group together working so hard and I am definitely excited to see what we can do.

“The Club have got a great staff and great people in the building so once I got the opportunity to speak to everyone I couldn’t wait to get here.

Garry Monk added, “We are really pleased to welcome Nathan into the Club. He has excellent pedigree, is hungry to do well and has an infectious character to add to the dressing room.

“He will be a great addition to the team and I look forward to working with him over the coming months.”

Bishop will wear the number 13 whilst with the U’s.
