Cambridge United Women are travelling to the Hive Stadium this Sunday to face London Bees in the FAWNL South East Division 1 after a well-earned break last weekend.
The U’s kick off at 2pm this Sunday, 16th November, at the Hive Stadium in Edgware this weekend.
Cambridge was last in action two weeks ago, when their match against Chatham Town was abandoned after just 30 minutes. After going 2-0 up, defender Brooke Cheal-Ferris unfortunately sustained a serious leg injury, and the game had to be stopped due to the seriousness of the incident.
Having had no fixture last Sunday, Sean Greygoose’s side will be hoping to use the extra recovery to hit the ground running this weekend and push for an early lead over their hosts.
The Opposition
The Bees have won three of their last five games, though their most recent outing was a 3-2 loss to Gwalia United, which knocked them out of the FA WNL Plate.
The hosts currently sit in third position in the league, within close reach of Fulham and Norwich, who sit above. A win would allow them to keep the pressure firmly on the teams ahead.
London Bees were who knocked Cambridge out of the FA WNL Plate in their previous meeting, securing a dominant 4-3 victory over the U’s. Cambridge fell 4-0 behind in that match and, despite a spirited second-half fightback, were ultimately unable to overturn the deficit.
Managers Thoughts
“Firstly, I want to thank everyone for their help when we last played with Brooke’s injury. She’s in recovery, which is great. Not only did we have such a great team spirit surrounding Brooke, two weeks ago, we were 2-0 up, on top and playing well. Hopefully, we will be fresh coming off a break and will be ready to play like that again. We played London Bees earlier in the League Cup, which was a really entertaining game. There were loads of chances, loads of goals, and they’re a good footballing side. I think it will be an end-to-end game with both teams creating chances, but hopefully we score more than they do and get the three points.’ Sean Greygoose said.
How to get there
To drive from Cambridge to The Hive Stadium in Barnet, take the M11 southbound towards London and continue until it meets the A406 North Circular. Follow the A406 westbound for several miles, then exit for the A5 towards Edgware and Colindale. Head north on the A5 (Edgware Road) before turning left onto Camrose Avenue, which leads directly to The Hive Stadium.
We hope to see you there!
