The 19-year-old goalkeeper links up with the Isthmian League Premier Division outfit ahead of their FA Cup Second Qualifying Round tie against Maidstone United this afternoon.
A product of the U’s academy, Briggs gains further senior experience following previous loan spells at Biggleswade FC, Chichester City and Downham Town.
