Jamie Winter (1977-2026)

Cledara Abbey Stadium

Cambridge United are deeply saddened to announce the passing of our much-loved colleague and key member of the matchday stewarding team, Jamie Winter...

Having worked for the Club for over two decades, Jamie was a valued and important member of the team and much loved by both colleagues and supporters alike. A familiar face to many, particularly to supporters entering the stadium from Newmarket Road, Jamie was also regularly seen providing his support and services within the South Stand, a location which he was due to lead this coming season after a recent promotion to the role of Stand Manager.

We have all lost a hugely valued and much-loved member of staff and he will be deeply missed by everyone at Cambridge United, especially by those who had the privilege to work closely alongside him for many years.

Support is available to anyone affected by this sad news in the following forms:

  • Club Chaplains – Stuart Wood and Ben Barton will be present at our upcoming fixtures and are available for one-to-one support. Please feel free to contact them directly.
  • Cambridge United Foundation Bright Horizons Café - Support will also be available at the Cledara Abbey Stadium between 2pm and 4pm every second Wednesday of the month as part of the Foundation’s Bright Horizons Café.

A minute’s applause will be held prior to the match against Barnet on Saturday 8 August, with Jamie's family in attendance. We encourage all supporters to join us in this celebration.

The thoughts of everyone at Cambridge United are with Jamie's family, friends, and colleagues as we mourn this loss of a key, valued member of our community.
