Discover careers in sport at third ‘An Evening with CUFC’ event

Guests at An Evening with CUFC

Cambridge United are proud to partner with Anglia Ruskin University (ARU) for the third instalment of An Evening with CUFC - an event celebrating the journeys of ARU graduates who have built successful careers in football and sport…

Hosted by Dr Harley-Jean Simpson, Senior Lecturer at ARU, the discussion will explore leadership, career development, and the transferable skills that connect higher education with the football and wider sports industries.

The panel will feature four members of the Cambridge United family - Nick Tyler Hicks (Head of Recruitment), Janet Mills (Head of HR), and Vicky Neal (Head of Cambridge United Foundation) - alongside Andrew Gleave, General Manager at David Lloyd Cambridge.

Attendees will gain insight into the different routes from higher education to careers in football and the broader sports sector, with our four speakers discussing their personal journeys.

Dr James Johnstone, Deputy Dean of ARU’s Faculty of Science & Engineering, said, “We’re delighted to welcome four outstanding speakers – including three ARU graduates – who are each helping to shape the local sporting landscape, both on and off the pitch.

“This event will provide a unique behind-the-scenes look at working in sport and will show the vital role that it plays in both community engagement and wellbeing. Attendees should gain valuable insight into the diverse careers available within the industry, making this an unmissable opportunity for anyone considering a future in sport.”

The event takes place on Thursday 27 November 2025, from 6:00pm to 7:30pm, at Anglia Ruskin University’s Cambridge campus. Attendance is free of charge.
