The UEFA A Licence coach brings over 20 years of experience in coach and player development to the U's.
After beginning his coaching career with foundational roles at Bury FC and Huddersfield Town, Wright spent nearly five years shaping Norwich City's setup as Head of Academy Coaching, before serving as Academy Manager at Ipswich Town.
Alongside his senior club experience, he continues to work as a UEFA B and Grassroots Coach Developer for The FA.
Wright said, "I am absolutely delighted to be joining Cambridge United. The club has a fantastic reputation for nurturing young talent, and I am looking forward to working closely with the staff here to create a thriving environment that gives our players and coaches the best possible platform to succeed."
Academy Manager Dom Knight said, “Dean brings significant academy experience and we believe he will add real value to our Academy leadership team and to the continued development of our programme.
“Dean will play a key role in driving our coaching programme, supporting the development of our coaches and ensuring there is strong alignment across our age groups.
“Central to the role will be creating a clear and connected pathway for our players, ensuring the work we do throughout the Academy consistently prepares them for the next stage of their development.
