Cambridge United Academy are pleased to announce a new partnership with 99Rated, which will see academy players supported through the use of the 99Rated App…

The platform will provide players with a personal development toolkit designed to inspire a love of ‘at-home’ practice, support the development of healthy habits, and encourage players to reflect on and share what they have enjoyed and learned with their coaches.

Rich Barnes, Co-Founder at 99Rated, said, "It is clear that the coaching staff at Cambridge United are not only dedicated to helping each of their players to develop their talents as exceptional young footballers but also to supporting them to become great young people. This focus aligns especially well with 99Rated's mission to reach and inspire as many young people as possible to develop their talents, grow in confidence and learn important life skills through sport. We are delighted to play a part in helping Cambridge United to guide and support their players to really enjoy their football journey."

Alongside the player toolkit, the 99Rated App will also support academy coaches by enabling them to set individual practice challenges, provide tailored feedback, and gain insight into what each player has enjoyed and how confident they feel throughout the season.

Liam Bloye, Head of Coach and Player Development at Cambridge United Academy, added, "We’re really pleased to be partnering with 99Rated to support our players in developing their technical skills in their own time. This allows them the freedom to practise at their own pace, when it suits them best. The platform will act as an extension of the work we do within the academy, helping to further support players’ development away from the club."

"Secondly, we’re also pleased to be able to offer an aftercare programme through the app, allowing us to provide ongoing support and stay in contact with academy players who do not continue with their age group at the end of the season. Players who aren’t retained will also be given access to the 99Rated Toolkit, providing them with a technical and personal development ‘at-home’ programme to support them as they transition to the next stage of their journey."

Callum Langley, Player Care Manager, said, "This package will be an excellent addition to our holistic aftercare package at Cambridge United. By centralising both Football and Player Care into one app, this allows individuals greater accessibility and flexibility to support their transition away from the Football Club whilst still being able to have touch points and seek advice from core members of staff.

"We want to continue to enhance and build upon our aftercare offering and this partnership will do just that."
