Cambridge United are pleased to announce the signing of attacking midfielder Ra’ees Bangura-Williams…
The 22-year old joins the Club on a one-year loan deal from EFL Championship side Millwall, subject to EFL and FA approval.
After spending most of his formative years in grassroots football, Bangura-Williams spent two years at Tooting & Mitcham United, where he made his senior debut at 17 years old.
His performances earned him a move to Millwall, where he progressed quickly to make his senior debut - marking the occasion with a goal in the FA Cup - before establishing himself in the Lions' first-team setup, where he has since made 31 appearances.
The attacker now arrives at the Cledara Abbey Stadium for the remainder of the season to bolster the U’s frontline.
“I am really pleased,” Bangura-Williams said. “I’d describe myself as an all-action midfielder - I love to attack and score, but I do the defensive work and I’ll get back for the team too.
“I’m ready to get straight into the action – I can’t wait to get started.”
Neil Harris added, “I am delighted to welcome Ra’ees to our football club. He's a player that I've worked with in the past as a young man coming through at Millwall, and it's been great to watch his development over the last 18 months, including on Tuesday night.
“I think anybody in the stadium would have seen Ra'ees's athleticism, ball receiving skills and ball carrying ability. His versatility within our group is going to be majorly important - he can play anywhere behind the striker, but also in midfield if needed.
“He's a player Millwall have high hopes for, and we look forward to helping him on his development pathway to help us win games and progress up the football ladder.”
Ra’ees will wear the number 44 whilst with the U’s.
