Cambridge United Academy will take on West Ham U16s on Tuesday 2 April in the third annual Terry Baker Memorial Fixture...
The evening will celebrate the success of the Academy over the past season, starting with an awards dinner at 5pm, followed by a memorial fixture against West Ham United U16s at 7:30pm. The Academy will recognise the development and achievements of Academy players over the past year.
The event, which is named in memory of Terry Baker, a lifelong supporter of the U's who helped to ensure the existence of the Club by contributing financially throughout some of the Club's lowest points. Terry served on the Board of Directors, presided as Chairman on three occasions and was named an Honorary Director in 2016. Sadly, Terry passed away two years later in 2018.
Head of Academy, Dom Knighton said, "We are pleased to be able to announce details of our third annual Terry Baker Memorial Fixture and U18s Awards Evening. Cambridge United and West Ham United were Terry’s teams and it's always an honour to host the Hammers at the Cledara Abbey - a Football Club with a rich history of developing some of the countries most exciting talents."
"Terry was a huge advocate for our youth system and did so much for the Academy and Football Club as a whole and we are extremely proud to once again be able to host this evening in his memory.
"We look forward to welcoming Val and the whole Baker family back to the Football Club on this evening. We must thank the Baker family as a whole for the continued support of the Academy system.
"The support our Academy has receives from the fans consistently has been second to none. The energy within the stadium that we have felt when towards Liam Benett, Glenn McConnell or Brandon Njoku is powerful and we would encourage as many of the Amber Army to come to this fixture and get a first taste of some of the talent progressing through our pathway."
