Cambridge United Community Trust are seeking a motivated, relatable and dedicated member of staff to work with young people, both within schools and in the community, as a positive role model to inspire them to realise their full potential...
Our programmes use physical activity and the power of sport to bring people together and take positive action to improving their own mental health and wellbeing. For young people this means consistent contact in safe environments, having trusted adults around them to help build their confidence to grow and develop as individuals.
The Youth Development Coordinator will be responsible for the organisation and delivery of the Premier League Kicks programme, which are turn-up-and-play sports sessions, that encourage young people to take part in physical activities in a secure environment. This programme enriches the opportunities for young people by having positive mentors present to talk to which aims to boost growth for the young people that attend. Managing the delivery of this programme includes working with venues, schools, youth groups and many other partners to enrich the activity enabling the young people to enjoy the sessions and also be inspired to achieve more. Our focus areas are those identified areas of highest need in Cambridge, including Abbey Ward, Trumpington Meadows and North Cambridge, although we work across other areas of Cambridgeshire.
As well as our Premier League Kicks work, the person will be involved in delivering targeted interventions, including one-to-one mentoring, for young people to support with both their physical and mental health. The Youth Development Coordinator will work alongside our Mental Health Officer and Youth Engagement Officer to coordinate these small group sessions in targeted schools to build young people’s self-confidence and boost their sense of success and achievement.
