TICKETING AND HOSPITALITY INFORMATION FOR SUPPORTERS FOLLOWING THE CANCELLATION OF THE 2019/20 SEASON

22 May 2020

Cambridge United have today released the following FAQS for supporters in light of the EFL’s recent announcement that the 2019/20 League Two season is unlikely to involve any further games for the Club. These FAQS are in direct relation to any outstanding season ticket, match ticket and hospitality queries for what would have been the final five home fixtures at the Abbey Stadium.

I have a 2019/20 season ticket. Will the club be offering an alternative for the five home games I missed out on or can I get a refund?

Your Options:

  • Refund – Receive the five game value of what you paid for your season ticket ahead of the 2019/20 season

Or…

  • Introduce a Friend Five Game Free Ticket - Play an influential role in building the Cambridge United fanbase of the future, whilst supporting the Club financially in the short-term

Yes you will be entitled to a refund. However, the Football Club will also be providing an alternative option that will allow a season ticket holder to help grow Cambridge United’s fanbase by introducing someone new to our wonderful Club. You will be entitled to bring a friend along to five fixtures at the Abbey Stadium totally free of charge, once football can safely return in front of crowds. The Club has canvassed the opinion of both fan representative groups, CFU and CUSP, who shared the view that the majority of our incredibly loyal 2019/20 season ticket holders would be willing to waive their right to a refund. During these challenging times, we feel it’s key to ensure our most faithful supporters feel valued and therefore would like to offer you an alternative as a gesture of goodwill. This Introduce a Friend Five Game Free Ticket is an the opportunity to not only help the Club in the short term by waiving a refund, but also in the long-term by bringing someone new to the match day experience we cherish most when brighter days return to the Abbey.

To be fully transparent with our supporters, the Five Game Introduce a Friend alternative, would be significantly better in relation to the Club’s financial management of the Covid-19 situation. Once again, we respectfully ask only those supporters who are able and willing to help the Club in this way do so. We do entirely understand that for some supporters, who will be facing financial hardship of their own during the current climate, the alternative is not a feasible option. Therefore we fully respect the wishes of those who seek a refund, and they will receive the five game value of what they paid in full for their season ticket ahead of the 2019/20 season.

I purchased a match ticket for one of the games that have now been cancelled, will I get a refund?

Your options:

  • Refund – Receive your money back for the tickets you have purchased

Or…

  • Match Credit – Keep hold of your tickets and gain a credit for a fixture next season at the Abbey Stadium when football returns

Similarly to season ticket holders, yes you will be entitled to a refund for your match tickets. However, the Club will be also offering an alternative option to match ticket holders, who will be able to use the ticket to gain a credit for a fixture next season, once crowds are safely able to return to fixtures at the Abbey Stadium. This again would be the most preferable to the Football Club given the financial challenges Covid-19 has presented. However, we also understand that many of our supporters will be experiencing their own challenges during this tough period and may well require the refund. We kindly ask those who can opt for the credit option do so only if possible, rather than a refund, and we thank you for your support.

How can I secure a refund?

Refunds will only be issued after confirmation from the EFL of the conclusion of the 2019/20 season. You will be able to claim a refund by contacting info@Cambridge-United.co.uk - Simply get in touch via that address and we will provide details about when your money will be refunded. Refunds may take time given the current situation.

Our club shop line on 01223 566 500 is also available for those who wish to claim a refund via telephone, however we should warn supporters that with limited staff currently manning the phones, congested periods should be expected. If possible, please look to get in contact via email ahead of calling the Club.

I have a hospitality season ticket for 2019/20, will I receive a refund?

  • Refund – Receive the five game value for the price you paid on your season ticket ahead of the 2019/20 season

Or…

  • Discount on 2020/21 Season Ticket – An appropriate discount on hospitality season tickets for next season

The Club will be making available an appropriate discount on hospitality season tickets in 2020/21 when football and crowds return to the Abbey Stadium, to ensure that season ticket holders in Club Cambridge or 8build Executive Hospitality this season receive their correct number of games.

A refund option is available, but again we would politely ask those who are able to support the Club’s cash flow in these challenging times, take up the alternative listed above in due course.

Please send any further queries to info@Cambridge-United.co.uk

I have purchased a 2020/21 season ticket during the two week window, what happens if next season is behind closed doors?

We would once more like to sincerely thank all of the 612 supporters who have shown their commitment by purchasing a 2020/21 season ticket during the two week window, to help aid the Club through this challenging period. For now, with a limited staff our focus remains on resolving the outstanding ticketing queries from the 2019/20 season. However, rest assured that the Board are looking at what we can offer these fans recognising their commitment to the Club and the potential constraints. We hope to have more to say over the coming weeks as the situation becomes clearer.

Fan representative groups CUSP and CFU have provided comments on the Football Club’s approach to the above. Click here to read now.
