MIND MATCH DAY
We are pleased to be welcoming mental health charity Mind and Cambridge, Peterborough, South Lincolnshire (CPSL) Mind to the Abbey Stadium tomorrow. Every year, one in four of us will experience a mental health problem, but hundreds of thousands don’t get the support they need. They’ll be collecting donations for their vital services.
As well as the bucket collection, the match day programme includes a special MIND feature inside and front cover. Our inspirational Groundsman Ian Darler, who himself has suffered with his mental health, also has a few tricks up his sleeve to celebrate the MIND match day. The first team players and Marvin the Moose will also be wearing warm up t-shirts in support of MIND. Find out more here.
Cambridge United are proud to continue our work as a mentally healthy football club, and leading the discussion across football.
CLUB CAMBRIDGE LEGEND BOBBY SHINTON
The Club will be welcoming back former mid-1970s favourite, Bobby Shinton. The Ex-U’s forward will be in Club Cambridge pre-match to reminisce on his two year spell at the Abbey, before making his way on to the pitch before kick off to receive a warm welcome home from the Amber Army.
Shinton played 99 times for the U’s scoring 25 goals after joining for £30,000, before going on to play for Manchester City, Millwall and Newcastle United among other clubs later in his career.
MATCH DAY FOOD AND DRINK
The Club’s tea bars located right around the ground will be open as always, serving a range of hot food items such as hot dogs, burgers and pies, plus chocolate bars, crisps and other snacks.
There are also mobile catering units located in the Mead Plant & Grab Stand (away supporters), Main Stand, rear of the North Habbin and NRE, offering alternative hot food.
FISH FINGER SANDWICHES – The Paul Wanless Bar at the top of the Main Stand will once again have a limited number of fish finger baguettes available for just £3.50. Be quick to avoid missing out.
The cash bar in the Abbey Arms is open from 2pm and has a range of Cask Ales and cider on draught for supporters to try out. Meanwhile the Dion Dublin Bar in the Main Stand will also be available for home supporters after alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks before and after the match.
MATCH PROGRAMME – THE AMBER RAMBLER
