LOCAL RESIDENTS AND PUPILS SET TO ATTEND HIGH PROFILE FA CUP CLASH FOR FREE

50 of the most deserving local pupils and residents from one of the most deprived areas of Cambridge, are set to enjoy an incredible night when Cambridge United entertain Leeds United at the Cambs Glass Stadium on Monday.

Abbey Meadows Primary School and Fen Ditton Primary School, which are both located  within a one mile radius of Cambridge United's Cambs Glass Stadium, have each received a batch of 20 tickets for students and their parents to attend the highly anticipated Emirates FA Cup encounter.

Cambridge United Community Trust has worked with both schools across a number of projects, which include the delivery of the AstraZeneca Active Science programme, the Kick it Out anti-discrimination campaign and inter-school sports competitions.

This latest initiative gives the primary schools the opportunity to reward their most deserving pupils with the chance to enjoy an exciting night at the Cambs Glass Stadium.

Cambridge United Community Trust CEO, Ben Szreter commented: "It's very important to us to engage with our local community.

"The Cambridge community is one that we constantly strive to be at the centre of, whether that is through our work in primary schools, our disability sport provision or encouraging young people to better themselves through our National Citizen Service programme.

"The free tickets initiative for the Leeds United match will enable 50 deserving local people, including schoolchildren, to come and see one of the most exciting games of Cambridge United's season.

"We hope that this initiative will give further recognition to outstanding community contributions that take place in our City and support this work within our most immediate locality."

Meanwhile local community organisation We are Ditton Fields have also selected ten deserving local residents, who live within a goalkick of the Football Club, to attend the fixture free of charge.

Local community worker Hilary Cox Condron of Abbey People said: "We would like to thank Cambridge United for their ongoing support of the local community and Abbey People.

“This is a great opportunity for local Fen Ditton residents to watch the match and it’s a fantastic way to thank people for their contributions to the local community.

“It’s a real celebration of having Cambridge United Football Club right on our doorstep.”
