MATCH PREVIEW | MORECAMBE – AWAY
The U’s travel to the North West tomorrow afternoon in search of a return to winning ways against Morecambe in Sky Bet League Two at the Globe Arena (Kick Off 3:00pm).
Shaun Derry’s men are still inside the top half of the League Two table despite recent results and can move to within three points of the top seven with a win this weekend.
United will be without Brad Halliday for the encounter though, with the right back ruled out for a number of weeks with the injury he picked up in the clash against Luton Town two weeks ago.
Meanwhile, the U’s continue to manage Barry Corr’s return to first team action, following a 30 minute appearance for the striker in a reserve game earlier this week.
As for the hosts, Morecambe are unbeaten in their last five Sky Bet League Two fixtures which include impressive draws with high flyers Doncaster Rovers and Carlisle United away from home.
Despite off field troubles the Shrimps pose a dangerous test for the U’s, with Cambridge United Manager Shaun Derry feeling Morecambe are currently carrying a “siege mentality”.
The Amber Army will have fond memories of their trip to the Globe Arena last season, with Shaun Derry picking up his first win as U’s boss in a 4-2 midweek victory over the Shrimps. That was followed later in the campaign with a superb 7-0 display.
However, the U’s will also be mindful of what Morecambe can offer following the 2-1 defeat inflicted by Jim Bentley’s side earlier this campaign at the Cambs Glass Stadium.
Tickets for the game can be purchased on the gate at the Globe Arena. Check out Shaun Derry’s pre-match thoughts here.
