CAMBRIDGE UNITED AND CFU SUPPORTING LEYTON ORIENT FANS’ TRUST TODAY!
Cambridge United are delighted to be supporting Leyton Orient Fans’ Trust in partnership with CFU, with a bucket collection at today’s fixture that will contribute towards the future of Leyton Orient Football Club.
The U’s are encouraging home supporters to donate as generously as possible towards the L.O.F.T Regeneration Fund, during a collection that will take place around the Cambs Glass Stadium throughout half time.
Leyton Orient Fan’s Trust have commented: “We, the Leyton Fans’ Trust are holding a bucket collection during half time in partnership with Cambridge Fans United, begging for help from Cambridge United fans as our beloved club lurches from crisis to crisis.
“Not only are we facing relegation from the Football League, we’re fighting for our very survival as a Football Club. You will no doubt have seen this week Orient’s owner has not paid the long-serving staff or players. We’ve already faced one winding-up petition in the courts, and the situation is getting worse.
“Our Regeneration Fund has been brilliantly supported by fans up and down the country and will be used to do exactly as the name suggests, in regenerating Leyton Orient Football Club. It certainly won’t be used to pay the owner’s debts for him!
“We would like to place on record a massive debt of thanks to Cambridge United, who have gone well out of their way to support a fellow League Two club by helping to facilitate today’s collection. We would also like to thank everybody that makes a kind donation.
“If anyone misses the opportunity to do so, they can also visit our website savetheorient.com where we have details of how to make a contribution via bank transfer, PayPal or GoFundMe.”
Cambridge United CEO Jez George has referred to the situation at Leyton Orient in his match day programme notes this afternoon, in which he commented: “We sincerely wish L.O.F.T and all the Leyton Orient fans every success in their battles ahead to save their Football Club.
“Cambridge United will do everything we can to support you and help you in any way we can. Leyton Orient FC will never die because of the fanbase and history, so in whichever form they start next season, we wish them well.”
You can read Jez’s full notes in today’s programme. Once again the Club would urge Cambridge United supporters to donate as generously as possible as part of the wider football family.
