LEGGE TALKS HIGH INTENSITY PERFORMANCES AND AMBER ARMY
Cambridge United stalwart Leon Legge reflects on a superb showing at Leyton Orient and praises the Amber Army for their biggest away following of the 2015/16 season.
Two goals from Ben Williamson and a debut goal for Jimmy Spencer capped off an all-round entertaining afternoon from the U’s, which Legge felt was a result of a relentless display from United.
He said: “It was a great result, going away to Leyton Orient is never an easy fixture but we got the three points and I felt they were well deserved.
“We were solid all over the pitch, from back to front. The manager has always asked us to play on the front foot and I think on Saturday, perhaps more than any game yet, we did that.
“We seemed to be first to every first, second and third ball and once you put that pressure on the opposition it makes the game very hard to deal with.
“When everybody is playing on the front, the team becomes more comfortable with the high intensity and we got the goals as the result of that.”
The centre back indicated that the 1,237 supporters made a huge contribution to the U’s strong performance, and added: “The supporters were so loud and you wouldn’t have thought they were the away fans, it was good to hear.
“It sounded as if there were far more than 1,200 fans there, more like 4,000.”
“We want to go on another run of good results and performances, picking up maximum points both at home and on the road.
“We’ll see where we can go, but our focus is taking it game by game starting with Dagenham.”
